How long is the season?

  • The season will last from the first week of November until the first weekend in March. We will do our best to end by  the final weekend of February but will keep the first week of March in reserve for any potential weather issues.
  • The high school league will run from mid-November through the end of January.

How much does it cost?

  • For the 2018-2019 season, the registration fees are:
    • 1st-2nd Grade: $185
    • 3rd-8th Grade: $215
    • 9th-12th Grade: $185

What facilities & gyms do you use?

  • WCBA contracts with several private and public school facilities across northern Wake county:
    • Fletcher Academy
    • Heritage High School
    • Millbrook High School
    • St. Timothy's School
    • Trinity Academy of Raleigh
    • West Millbrook Middle School

What days of the week will my player have practices & games?

  • We hold practices and games on every day of the week with the general exception of Fridays. We may have some events on Fridays if inclement weather alters our schedule.
  • We strive for consistent venues and practice and game days for specific divisions. However, because our league is so large and because we have limited hours at our facilities your practice & game days and venues  will vary.
  • Please note: Our 1st-2nd Grade league will play & practice on Saturdays and Sundays only.
  • We will offer several Wednesday night skills sessions at no additional charge during the season. These sessions are for individual skill development only.

How many times a week will my player have practices and/or games?

  • Grades 2-8 will have 12 practices and 12 games. High school teams will have 4 practices and 12 games.
  • Practices or games could be on any day of the week except Friday. Games are typically on weekends.
  • When we have all leagues going (700+ players), you could have games/practices on both Saturday and Sunday. Games later in the season may take place during the week.

How many players are there on each team? Can I request he/she be on a specific team?

  • All teams will have 8 players.
  • We cannot honor requests to play with friends. All teams are formed by a draft to form teams of equal talent.
  • We cannot honor requests to be with a specific coach. The coach will have to draft the player.
  • We cannot honor requests to be placed on a specific team or with another player for carpool reasons.
  • All siblings playing in the same age group will be on the same team, unless the parent/guardian requests that the siblings are put on different teams.

Do you offer a girls only league?

  • WCBA Rec League is a coed program and we encourage girls to play, especially in our younger age groups.
  • We will actively pursue a girls only program when we are fully operational in our new facility.

My child just made his middle school team. Can I get a refund?

  • Yes!
  • We strongly encourage you to register your child even if he is trying out for his school team. We get desperation phone calls every year. We create a waitlist specifically in anticipation of players dropping out.
  • Note: This policy is specific to our 7th-8th Grade league. This does not include 6th Grade players playing in our 5th-6th Grade league, which starts two weeks earlier than the 7th-8th Grade league. Any player that withdraws from any age group prior to our teams being formed is eligible for a refund. If a player in the 6th Grade makes his school team prior to being drafted onto a WCBA team, he will get a refund. Any player that is drafted onto a 5th-6th Grade team and then drops out after he/she makes a school team will not get a refund.

My son just made his middle school team. Can he also play in your league?

  • Yes. The player must notify  the league/coaches that he is on his school team and that he will potentially miss weekday events.

My son just made his high school team. Can he also play WCBA?

  • No varsity player, public or private, is allowed to play in the league.
  • Any junior varsity player must request written permission from his school coach to play. Most public schools have strict policies against recreational league participation. The player will be allowed to play if space is available. Recreational players will have priority.
