There will be six girls teams in 2018 from 5th grade to high school

The Wake County Basketball Association will be adding a girls AAU basketball program beginning this spring.

WCBA's AAU program currently features over a dozen boys basketball teams, and beginning in the 2018 season, six girls teams will be added to the program. The teams will range from 5th grade to high school.

"WCBA is excited to announce the launching of our first season of WCBA girls travel teams," said WCBA director Steve Sterrett. "WCBA hopes to provide more opportunities for local girls who want to play basketball at a high level."

Open gym and tryout dates have been set for 5th-8th grades. An open gym will be held on Jan. 7 from 3:00-4:00 PM for 5th & 6th grade girls and from 7:00-8:00 PM for 7th & 8th grade girls.

Tryouts for 5th-8th grade girls will be held on Feb. 3 from 7:00-9:00 PM.

All open gyms and tryouts will take place at Trinity Academy of Raleigh, located at 10224 Baileywick Road.

High school open gyms and tryout dates for the girls AAU program will be set soon.
